Cracks in Healthcare

The gap is growing.

You don’t see it, but we do.
It’s far and high –
From this angle,
We can’t see you anymore.

Forgot what you look like,
Forgot what you sound like.

It’s crumbling around us,
Yet you rise higher.

Another crack in the foundation –
And your response?
To climb one level higher.

If you can’t see it,
You assume it will disappear.

The cracks multiply –
Our cries for fair pay,
Our cries for patient dignity,
Our cries for more support,
Our cries for help –
A silent whisper from up there.

Away from the chaos,
Away from reality,
You don’t see the fear,
The injuries,
The casualties.

We hold the fort, barely hanging on,
While you hide behind your impenetrable policies.

It must be lonely up there,
In your offices and boardrooms,
Away from honesty, fairness, and integrity.

No matter how high you climb,
These cracks will eventually reach you.
