Retail Medicine
They are clients, not patients.
Remember,
They are customers, not patients.
Why?
Why are we creating the illusion
That they aren’t sick?
Why are we deceiving the vulnerable?
We’re transforming hospitals into hotels,
And clinics into restaurants,
Where patients pick and choose their care
Like items from a menu.
Let them select the care they can afford.
Healthcare workers now
Are reduced to maids and waitstaff –
Here to serve, not to save.
The only difference now?
We don’t get tipped.
The model is shifting,
Becoming more transactional,
The bill matched to the balance,
With new titles:
Clients and Customers.
Trying to remind patients
That service is not free –
A gentle reminder
Of the cold care we now offer.
