More Than a Person

More Than a Person

They say,
“Just a person.”

But I –
I see more.

I see eyes that have witnessed different worlds.
Eyes that have seen both the beauty and the brutality of life.
Eyes that have watched injustice unfold,
Yet still dare to dream.

I hear accents that carry stories –
Stories of struggle.
Stories of survival.
Stories of dreams not yet silenced.

I see hands that have worked hard to succeed,
Hands that have built,
Hands that have nurtured,
Hands that have healed.

I see faces –
Beautiful, colorful faces –
Faces with history,
With ancestry,
With deep-rooted culture,
And an unshakable pride.

They say,
“Just a person.”

But I see a life –
Rich and radiant,
Worthy of being seen.
